Our Story

Forty-plus years of glass, posters, incense and good conversation in downtown Santa Cruz.

Santa Cruz's one-stop smoke shop

Pipeline has been part of downtown Santa Cruz for more than four decades. Generations of locals, students and visitors have wandered in off Pacific Avenue, gotten lost in the poster wall and walked out with something they love.

The checkered floor, the incense tower and the hand-painted windows have become part of the neighborhood. We've moved down the street and changed with the times, but the idea is the same: carry great stuff, treat people right and support local artists.

Local glass

Glass from our backyard

The heart of Pipeline is locally made handblown glass. We work with glassblowers from Santa Cruz County and the greater Bay Area, from established names to up-and-comers selling their first pieces.

Wig-wag, implosions, fumed work, sculpted accents: every local piece is inspected by our staff and most are one of a kind. When it's gone, it's gone.

Are you a glass artist? Bring your work by the shop on a weekday morning or DM us on Instagram. We're always looking for new local talent.

Something for everyone

Not everyone comes in for glass. Students decorate dorms from our tapestry racks, parents grab lava lamps for the kids' rooms, and regulars stop by for their favorite incense. You'll find sunglasses, tie-dye, stickers, books and gifts alongside vaporizers and rolling papers.
